A great set of wedding photos via #!/usr/bin/girl. They look like they were a lot of fun to take. For the longest time I have been trying to convince L to do something similar for our wedding photos. She would be attacking me with an Escrima stick and I would be comically cowering away from her.
Unfortunately she is not buying into the idea … yet.
I have decided to start a little project that involves a Princess, a Sorcerer, and a boy dressed in green.
This six part Legend of Zelda Retrospective by Gametrailers.com reminded me of how much fun I have had playing these games. It also brought to my attention a number of titles in the series that I have not had a chance to play yet. So I have decided to start my very own The Legend of Zelda Project. Yes I know it isn’t the most original name, but that’s beside the point.
In the upcoming months I plan on playing every single title in The Legend of Zelda series through from start to finish. That is fifteen games across a possible seven consoles if I decided to be picky and play only the original releases. Since tracking down all those old cartridges (and not to mention a working NES) would be a pain, I will probably look for the re-released versions of these games instead.
I am going to try and complete all these games by the end of the year. What I hope to get out of this Project is several hours of great game play at a relatively cheap cost. You can expect to see a couple of posts about my in-game exploits here from time to time. Now, to stop myself from blowing the rest of my tax refund on a replica Hylian Shield and Master Sword. Wish me luck!
Ever since I received my tax refund last week I have been trying to decide what to do with it. The more responsible side of me suggested I save it to help pay for my upcoming trip to the Philippines in July. I did my best to ignore that side and give into the side that was easily amused by new shiny things.
I started toying around the idea of buying some big ticket items I’ve had my eye on in the past few months; A second monitor for my computer rig, a flat screen TV, maybe an Xbox360 or a PlayStation 3. Then after writing this post I started thinking about my kitchen and I decided it was about time I outfitted it with a proper set of tools. What better place to start this outfitting plan than buying a good large Chef’s knife.
Initially I was ready to blow the entire refund on a high quality knife but I chickened out. I am not sure why. Maybe it was because the most experience I have had with a chef’s knife has been with an old Ikea blade I inherited from my old roomate. I was afraid of stepping up to the big guns too soon and ended up settling on a KitchenAid Chef’s knife that seemed solid enough but was priced well below my initial budget.
I may regret my decision after a few months when I finally learn how to use a Chef’s knife properly. I might even end up even buying that Wüsthof Classic Chef’s Knife I originally had my eye on. But for now, I’ll just stick by my guns (my knife?) and work on putting my new purchase to good use.
… and hey, I still have a good amount of change left to spend on something else. Bonus!
With my increased interest in cooking and baking it is important to have a fully stocked pantry. By pure luck I have managed to acquire most of the items on these lists just through the course of my daily kitchen adventures.
Part of me wanted the TTC strike to continue on into the weekday. With the subway system out of commission, I would be forced to work form home instead of taking an hour long commute to the suburbs to get to my office.
Instead the only thing this strike managed to do was make me miss a class and a practice session at my dojo across town. Thanks a million!
I’ve spent the last few weeks re-watching Seasons 3 to 5 of Angel. That is a lot of vampire dust and pigs blood to wade through. I enjoyed watching the episodes back to back like that. It makes it easier to appreciate the longer story arcs and to watch how the characters develop as the series progresses.
I think Angel managed to overcome it’s “spin-off” status and was able to stand on it’s own as a complete show. Things did get kind of weird around the 4th season when they tried to write Charisma Carpenter’s pregnancy into the plot, but I really like where the 5th season was going. It’s unfortunate they had to wrap up the story when they did because I would have liked to see where Joss Whedon would have taken us if he had a second year in the offices of Wolfram & Heart.
Although I wish they would stop using the phrase “But he has a soul!” We get it already!
The upgrade to WordPress 2.5 did not go as smoothly as planned. The setup scripts would time out at inconvenient times (i.e. all the time) and I am worried that there may be a few glitches here and there on the site.
If anyone sees anything odd, please leave a comment below and let me know. Your help would be most appreciated.
When a ten year old girl walks out on stage for her recital wearing a feather boa, you know she’s gotta be bringing the heat!
For some reason, playing this song on Guitar Hero doesn’t seem so impressive anymore. Also, what is with the weak applause when she’s done? The girl just rocked out and that’s the best you can give her? Puh-lease!
Who thought it was a good idea to see who would win in a fight between Sub-Zero and Batman? And what happens if Batman wins? I don’t see the dark avenger ripping his opponent’s spine out of his back and beating them down with it.
Don’t laugh, I’m pretty sure that’s possible in one of the Mortal Kombat games out there.
It is obvious that Midway is trying to play off the huge success of the Marvel vs. Capcom series. I feel the difference here is that the DC world does not mesh so well with the over-the-top gore of the Mortal Kombat games.
On the other hand, Superman may get a run for his money since a lot of the Kombatan’s abilities are magic based.
