Just in the nick of time

The good news is that I figured out how to get more walking space in my room. All I had to do was move the bed into the corner with one side against the wall. That cleared up at least a good square meter of dancing room.

The bad news is that I figured out how to get more walking space in my room two days before I move out to a new apartment. Ah well, I’m pretty sure I’m going to have more then enough dancing room over there!

Six Shots by Midnight

De-Animator is a great little flash game with a lot of style. You play a simple spectacled Samaritan scared stiff by the shambling set of slobbering zombies. Armed with only your trusty six-shooter and a shotgun if your lucky, you’ve got to fight off the undead horde before they make you their next meal.

The game was based on some of the works of H. P. Lovecraft and it shows in it’s all silhouette artwork. Everything from the eerie wind sounds to the subtle shaking of your avatar adds to that classic horror feel. On top of it all, there is a surprising amount of game play if you start to excrement experiment.

It is best if you figure it out all yourself, but let me share some simple hints to start you off:

  • Click on the zombie’s themselves to shoot them. Don’t try to aim your gun with the cursor, just click where you want to bullet to go.
  • Always shoot the smaller zombies down first as they tend to walk faster.
  • Try reading the story behind the game for some additional hints

So far my highest score is 117 ghouls shot down by Stage 11. What’s your best zombie-busting performance?

I may just take that Greek Mythology course offered by the University of Washington

One of my favourite sites out there, Lifehacker, has a great article about getting a free college education online. The piece points you to several American Colleges that provide full courses anyone can download and take part in. Of course none of these program will give you a degree, but it is a nice option for the perpetual student in your life.

Any way the wind blows …

I haven’t even finished watching this video and I’m posting it. Rick Miller performs Bohemian Rhapsody in 25 different voices.

No surprise which guns have gone up in price

The next update to Counter-Strike: Source will include a neat new system for pricing of in game weapons and equipment.

Starting on October 11th, the prices of weapons and equipment in Counter-Strike: Source will be updated each week based on the global market demand for each item. As more people purchase a certain weapon, the price for that weapon will rise and other weapons will become less expensive. [MORE]

You can take keep track of pricing trends over at the Counter-Strike Weapons Market page. I think it’s a pretty interesting way to unify the game overall. Depending on how high prices go it may also force players to start experimenting with different guns and equipment which would in turn result in different strategies and game play.

I’m also very happy about it because now my favourite in game weapon has gone down in price. Time to re-install Steam

It was replaying at 1:30 AM but there was no way I was staying up that late for 10 minutes of footage.

Anyone have a copy of Collateral? I could borrow?

While over at my parents house this weekend I managed to catch the film on The Movie Network. Well, most of it. With only 10 to 15 minutes left in the film I had to get going and pick up my brother from his work.

Start Spoiler!
For those of you who have seen the movie it was right after the car crash scene. Vincent has just run off and it looks like Max is being arrested because of the body in the trunk. Gah!
End Spoiler!

I’m thinking of just renting the DVD when I get home just to see those last few minutes of the film. Bah!

This is why eye contact is so important during that moment

Beautiful Agony is dedicated to the beauty of human orgasm. This may be the most erotic thing you have ever seen, yet the only nudity it contains is from the neck up. That’s where people are truly naked.”

A very interesting concept. On one hand you don’t see any of the money shots you’d expect in a pornographic or erotic film. But at the same time seeing people climax through their face, their voice and their eyes makes it feel all the more real; all the more intimate.

Of course there is a membership fee to watch, but I believe you’re free to submit your own videos. No, don’t expect one from me anytime soon … sheesh.

Beaker never looked so badass!

For three students in an Intro To 3D Animation class, this is pretty great work:
