Did I start an Internet Meme?
Lifehack.org has a post about making a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. I remember a long time ago I decided to create one for my blog, posting my progress through the list as I accomplished each task. I never did complete all 101 things, but I did come close.
The Lifehack article links to Get Rich Slowly which links to a livejournal discussion about the origins of the “101 in 1001″ meme. This got me thinking about the timing of when I started my list and after a visit to the Wayback Machine I was able to pin it down to September 20th, 2002.
I’m not sure what this means in the grand scheme of things. Yes Triplux made the meme famous, but if the timing is correct … could I claim a No-Prize and say I created an internet meme?!
OK, technically the credit should go to an after school kids show called Breaker High. In one episode Shawn (played by a young Ryan Gosling) introduced the idea to the world … but I might have been the first person to introduce it to the interwebs!
