Sweet and Savory

For future reference:

With my increased interest in cooking and baking it is important to have a fully stocked pantry. By pure luck I have managed to acquire most of the items on these lists just through the course of my daily kitchen adventures.

Back to the commuter grind come Monday morning

Part of me wanted the TTC strike to continue on into the weekday. With the subway system out of commission, I would be forced to work form home instead of taking an hour long commute to the suburbs to get to my office.

Instead the only thing this strike managed to do was make me miss a class and a practice session at my dojo across town. Thanks a million!

The secret is Otter Blood

I’ve spent the last few weeks re-watching Seasons 3 to 5 of Angel. That is a lot of vampire dust and pigs blood to wade through. I enjoyed watching the episodes back to back like that. It makes it easier to appreciate the longer story arcs and to watch how the characters develop as the series progresses.

I think Angel managed to overcome it’s “spin-off” status and was able to stand on it’s own as a complete show. Things did get kind of weird around the 4th season when they tried to write Charisma Carpenter’s pregnancy into the plot, but I really like where the 5th season was going. It’s unfortunate they had to wrap up the story when they did because I would have liked to see where Joss Whedon would have taken us if he had a second year in the offices of Wolfram & Heart.

Although I wish they would stop using the phrase “But he has a soul!” We get it already!

Too many FastCGI errors for my liking

The upgrade to WordPress 2.5 did not go as smoothly as planned. The setup scripts would time out at inconvenient times (i.e. all the time) and I am worried that there may be a few glitches here and there on the site.

If anyone sees anything odd, please leave a comment below and let me know. Your help would be most appreciated.

Don’t you cry no more

When a ten year old girl walks out on stage for her recital wearing a feather boa, you know she’s gotta be bringing the heat!

For some reason, playing this song on Guitar Hero doesn’t seem so impressive anymore. Also, what is with the weak applause when she’s done? The girl just rocked out and that’s the best you can give her? Puh-lease!

Mortal Kombat vs. DC

Say what?

Who thought it was a good idea to see who would win in a fight between Sub-Zero and Batman? And what happens if Batman wins? I don’t see the dark avenger ripping his opponent’s spine out of his back and beating them down with it.

Don’t laugh, I’m pretty sure that’s possible in one of the Mortal Kombat games out there.

It is obvious that Midway is trying to play off the huge success of the Marvel vs. Capcom series. I feel the difference here is that the DC world does not mesh so well with the over-the-top gore of the Mortal Kombat games.

On the other hand, Superman may get a run for his money since a lot of the Kombatan’s abilities are magic based.

As you wish

I think they boys and girls at Think Geek are big fans of a certain movie.

Anybody want a peanut?Have fun storming the castle
InconceivableMy name is Inigo Montoya

Not that I am complaining, I am a big fan of the movie as well. I just wish I saw these before I had placed my order for an 8-bit tie.

The possibilities are slowly stewing in my mind

I never thought there would be a time in my life where I got excited about a crock pot that also plays double duty as a dutch oven. Imagine all the great meals I could cook with this baby, and I wouldn’t need an additional pan to brown/braise the meat in before hand.

I have to balance this out somehow. Time to look into upgrading my video card …

Awesome pussycat

Michael Bay is a good sport and pokes fun at his “blow things up” reputation in this awesome Verizon FiOS commercial.

But Michael, if you are serious about the Awesome, why haven’t you made a movie with Chuck Norris yet? Would that be just too much awesome for the world to handle?
