TED Talks - Dan Barber: A surprising parable of foie gras

I have never had foie gras but I have watched enough Iron Chef to know that it is quite the delicacy. To be honest I have never really had a desire to try it because of what it is: Liver. I really do not like beef liver. It has gotten so bad that I have had an involuntary gagging reaction just to the smell of it. I know that fowl liver and bovine liver should have different tastes but I can’t seem to make that distinction because of my distaste for beef liver.

Dan Barber’s story just might change my mind. I admire how Eduardo Sousa has managed to work with nature instead of trying to control it. His story is inspiring and interesting and I would love to visit the farm and see his magical methods at play. Both Dan and Eduardo’s enthusiasm for foie gras is infectious and makes me feel excited for this delicacy as well.

I probably won’t be ordering any foie gras for myself just yet … but I’d be more inclined to steal a bite of L’s plate if she does.

My Christmas Gift

I have decided what I am getting myself for Christmas, and it is the Tokyoflash Rogue.

Tokyoflash Rogue

This wristwatch has been on my radar for quite some time now. It has that Power Ranger Morpher like quality I look for in a timepiece. At the same time there is a spy or espionage like quality to it that gives the Rogue a more grown up feel.

I’m telling you about the watch today because I’ve officially placed it on my 30 Day Waiting List. If in 30 days I am still committed to buying the watch and have not managed to come up with a valid reason not to, I will buy it. Co-incidentally that puts the purchase date right on Christmas Day.

Although I am tempted to buy a second watch from Tokyoflash so I can get a Analog Nekura Watch for free … but that would be pushing it (not to mention pushing my budget!)

The World Has Ended With Me

After nearly 400 hours of game time I think I have finally had my fill of The World Ends With You. Up until the end of October it has been my constant companion during my commute. I have finished the game and completed nearly all of the end game content. All that’s left is to collect those last few pins but the allure of that goal has finally faded. All in all it was an excellent game and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fresh new spin on the Japanese RPG formula.

Bike Hero

I honestly love this video and all the work that was put into it. Thanks to YesButNoButYes for highlighting it! It must have taken them quite a long time to set up and get in one set. I wonder if all the cars passing by were coincidence or planned as well.

Sadly my playtime with Guitar Hero and Rock Band were severely affected by my move a year ago. My small bachelor apartment did not have enough space for a TV. No TV = no place to play a console, so my PS2 went into storage.

Since then we’ve had Guitar Hero III, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Rock Band and Rock Band II! That’s a lot of plastic instrument game time I’m missing out on! Hopefully that will change in the upcoming year when I move to a bigger apartment and have the space for a 52″ plasma screen high def wall mounted flat screen TV! Booyah!

Back to our regularly scheduled programming

Hi there! Long time no post. My apologies for not keeping up with the demand for content over here. Work took over my free time (and general health) these past few days but now things are starting to look a little better.

I’m hoping to come back into this blog with more meaty posts and less YouTube regurgitation. (I’m sure that provided a lovely image for you this morning)

An “F’ Yeah!” moment captured in all its glory

Quite possibly the best animated gif ever.

Although there is no audio, I picture the Hoff shouting “Turbo PUNCH!” in a style reminiscent of Captain Falcon.

Thanks Kotaku
